Inspired by the gemstone Obsidian, formed from volcanic glass. Known to be used for protection, safety and grounding. I wanted to create a piece that encompassed that feeling. I used warm earthy tones, rusty orange, sage and forest green, cream and a rich deep gold. I finished the piece with hand detailing, gilded in the center to draw the observer.
